Specifically hand guns. Electric tasers and pepper spray too.
The title wouldn’t be discussed if authorities understood safety of their citizens. Just yesterday stones thrown my way by a wannabe bully.
That said I propose a law Japanese inspired.
* Lawful ownership requires rigorous tests for citizenry: they must attend an all-day class, pass a written test, and achieve at least 95% accuracy during a shooting-range test. Complete, they have to pass a mental-health evaluation, as well as a background check, whereby the government digs into any criminal records or ties and interviews friends and family members. Previous owners before enaction of this law must undergo these to keep their arms. The class and the initial exam repeats every three years.
PS, crime reduction measures that would negate my proposal – To naysayers I say my post last resort: 3 year police training to bachelor degree, police de escalation training, mental health ministry, ending oppressive tax, lower COL, paying both a living wage and GMI to do away with poverty. TT spends many billions in the decades since the crime scourge and 2022 worst ever at over 601.
Having a weapon is not always a road to violence.
Switzerland: so many guns
