This very moment neighbors are cussing, quarreling AGAIN ghetto style – women this time, a hood i can’t wait to leave. You seen them, my reform of education, mental health, wages, police: first two in particular would have given my village peace on a holiday.

Change the environment.

‘trinidad education – school reform in doable steps.’

Much of it based on study of #finland and #japan.

Short notice –

* As Finland start a child’s education age seven.

* Minimal homework – not exceeding 5 – 30 minutes.

* Shorten school hours – local private primary schools I saw do this.

* Create a relaxed environment – no screaming.

* Reinstate IMMEDIATELY the school laptop program PNM halted.

* Reverse IMMEDIATELY slashing of tertiary GATE post graduate grants under PNM.

* Saying that end GATE make ALL tertiary and trade schools utterly free. Clear all student debt.

* As in Japan introduce the durable school satchel.

* As Finland have a baby box (baby supplies) to all new parents and other social safety nets.

* Autonomy – teachers have latitude in class and curriculum.

* One year paid maternity leave.

* Three teachers per class – two regular ones and a third for slow kids. A counselor also.

Long term –

* As France introduce gourmet lunch.

* Raise the respect for teachers to that of doctors, scientists.

* MASTER’S DEGREE mandatory for new teachers. Five year course.

* BACHELOR’S DEGREE for lead daycare teachers.

* Pay six months of a teacher’s rent – (appreciation tactic).

* Do away with second and third choice schools – bias.

* Make ALL schools equal quality.

* Consider doing away with Concordat.

* Revamp the system like Finland.

* Introduce private school quality to government schools.

* digitized curriculum and classroom – as Japan, #SouthKorea the curriculum is on COMPUTER, PEN TABLET PC and ONLINE. Computers, wi fi and a digital white board in class itself. Video conference with kids abroad. Replacing our LAPTOP PROGRAM are FREE DIGITAL TEXTBOOKS.

‘Mental healthcare’

· Mental health reform – efforts will be made to address mental health, inclusive an investigation of St. Ann’s Hospital and a board of experts to recommend reform with the whole country in mind.

· Mental Health board – staffed by experts are charged by government to make recommendations.

· Mental health ambulance – taking Sweden’s page, take calls from the suicidal and severe mental illness individuals and decide if hospitalization needed. A psychiatric emergency response unit.

· Children and adolescents – receive a special emphasis.

· School violence – the ministry plays a big part in reducing in part with counselling. Enough experts are integrated in schools.

· Ministry of Mental Health and Loneliness – taking a page from Japan, Canada, UK; a cabinet post whereby the minister working very closely with experts addresses such matters, utilizing a range of therapy and support.

· Line minister in the Ministry of Mental Health and Loneliness – this individual must have the relevant expertise.

· Ministry of mental health missions – include and not limited to: assessing cadets and graduates of security services – prison, police, coast guard, defense force and fire department; servicing school children and parents; hospitals and clinics and services free of charge general to the public by way of offices. All state hired social workers, psychiatrists and psychologists placed under it.

· FIRST WORLD STATE and HI-TECH STATE – Trinidad’s road to such would greatly relieve desperation and depression.

· Psychiatric research institute – the facility set up to examine mental health. Part of a healthcare industry.

· Imported mental health experts – a way to address a shortage of experts and pay due care to local mental health.
Trinidad and Tobago will hire PSYCOLOGISTS, PSYCHIATRISTS, MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONERS, PSYCHIATRIC-MENTAL HEALTH NURSE PRACTITIONERS and CONSELLORS from worldwide to serve local SCHOOL, POLICE, PRISONS, HEALTH FACILITIES and PUBLIC.
Benefits include – free bus and ferry pass, respectable salary, no utility bill, bonuses for outstanding work, free housing, access to the universal health system, paid vacation, free flight to and from Trinidad and Tobago; orientation – where MH experts will be exposed to various activities related to mental health in Trinidad, lodging and meals of orientation are free.

· Free private psychologists and psychiatrist services – the state subsidizes PRIVATE practitioners in whole for the public. Enhances access to treatment.

• Mental health treatment and permission – by law the state can administer treatment to persons judged in need without their, guardian or family consent. They, guardians or family may not sue the state without cause.
