A)

WORKPLACE AND WORK CULTURE

· Employee empowerment and fighting exploitation

  1. The participation of workers in factories through shares and other measures. 2. Two weeks’ vacation leaves no more – five as in France, productivity rate was said to be higher than America.

  2. Protect whistle blowers.

  3. Address how businesses abuse low income workers – in any event low income eradicated by the LIVABLE EARNINGS. (5 thousand in mandated employer WAGE and same from government Guaranteed Minimum Income monthly to employed and unemployed adults in a wealth share – up to 10 thousand)

  4. Wage theft – SEVERELY PUNISHED.

· Co-determination Allow workers to participate in management of companies. Unions are board members as in Germany and Japan.

· Unions in Trinidad create in sectors where none existed. Basically universal unions for all.

Investigate individuals who don’t truly have worker interest at heart noting some have been house speaker and a UNC cabinet member.

Unions for the lowest earners will play roles for salary and other benefits.

· Conditions of workof great priority, steps will start first hundred days. Employers not only pay small but ABUSE workers, contributing to WORKPLACE STRESS. As required laws and measures are implemented to address workplace stress with SEVERE punishments for employers. Not limited to levying mandatory massive fines on employers; mandatory employer counselling and massive financial damages paid to employees, counselling made available for employees and magnifying and expanding the arm of state charged with enforcement – LABOUR INSPECTORATE UNIT of the Ministry of Labour. A government body that will not merely await worker complaints but proactively visit businesses and speak with employees periodically. Members must possess a MASTERS degree in Industrial Relations. Tighter coordination with the Industrial Court considered.

· Implementing a Four Day Work Week considered – technology makes people more productive than the past. It would reduce electric bills, increase employer profits, make for less stressed workers, grants an extra day off and benefits mental health. Done at government level and efforts made to encourage the private sector.
Defined is an arrangement where a workplace or place of education has its employees or students work or attend school, college or university over the course of four days per week rather than the more customary five.
NOTE – Microsoft Japan conducted a trial four-day work week in summer 2019, granting workers paid leave on Fridays. At the same time it cut the length of most meetings from a full hour to half an hour, and capped attendance at five employees. For the duration of the trial, the company reported a 23% reduction in electricity costs. Sales per employee increased 40% during the last year’s same period.

· Mental health – the aggrieved employee receives a visit from a mental health ministry member to assess them.

Shutdown – the fate of any private business resisting living wage or attempt to minimize, workplace stress and exploitation.

B)

Mental healthcare

· Mental health reform – efforts will be made to address mental health, inclusive an investigation of St. Ann’s Hospital and a board of experts to recommend reform with the whole country in mind.

· Mental health ambulance – taking Sweden’s page, take calls from the suicidal and severe mental illness individuals and decide if hospitalization needed. A psychiatric emergency response unit.

· Children and adolescents – receive a special emphasis.

· Ministry of Mental Health and Loneliness – taking a page from Japan, Canada, UK; a cabinet post whereby the minister working very closely with experts addresses such matters, utilizing a range of therapy and support.

· FIRST WORLD STATE and HI-TECH STATE – Trinidad’s road to such would greatly relieve desperation.

  • Psychiatric research institute – the facility set up to examine mental health. Part of a healthcare industry.
