Hi! Thanks for your help in advance! We’re planning a four night Caribbean « babymoon » at the end of April and having trouble picking a destination and place to stay. There are too many good options, is there a perfect option? So I ask you – the amazing random folks of the world! – do you know where we should go?!

You’ll see we’re obnoxiously picky but this may be our last vacation in a while, so why not try to make it perfect? Money matters but we’re willing to splurge (again, last trip for awhile). Not going to post a budget here because I’d like to review any and all ideas to see what we’re missing or what ends up mattering most to us.

We are country agnostic but know we want the following:

  • Beach – very accessible (5m walk?) for sitting, walking, spending a day chilling. Doesn’t have to be private, but don’t want to have a big crowd.
  • Modern « design-y » vibe – hip, artsy, quirky, not out of the 80s or 90s (or earlier), or « stuffy ». Jake’s and Skylark in Jamaica are an example.
  • Small and/or secluded – we’re not looking to see or be seen, don’t want a big resort or access to golf courses and tennis courts, multiple pools etc.
  • Good food – either in the hotel or, walkable to town etc. We likely won’t do all inclusive since one of us won’t be drinking at all.
  • Privacy – we’d likely compromise on this first, but our preference is for a villa or similarly isolated arrangement than a hotel.

We’re only doing 4 nights so don’t want to spend too much time traveling. Ideally it would be nonstop flights out of New York City area.

Water sports/activities are not a big deal to us. Mostly want nice long walks and place to relax.

Here are some examples of what we’re considering and why we’re hesitating to book. Ultimately we may just compromise and pick one of these, but still dreaming that one of you knows the perfect spot for us.

  • Jake’s Hotel, Jamaica – small, cute/artsy, private. Beach doesn’t seem super pleasant despite having great views.
  • Skylark, Jamaica – small, modern/design-y. Access to good food and great beach. No pool and less privacy.
  • Cocobay, Antigua – cute and simple if not modern/chic. Private options. All-inclusive means we’re stuck spending money with the hotel restaurant rather than on other food or on the accommodations.
  • Mount Cinnamon, Grenada – nice private accommodations with views, but maybe we can get something a little hip-er? Beach seems nice, but weirdly not a lot of photos of the beach with people on it.
