Boys and Braids

Question: For context I’m Haitian raised by OLD SCHOOL Haitian parents I’m talking raised in the 50s and 60s… My little cousin has braids his parents were raised in the 70s so they’re a little less strict. My parents are dead set against boys having long hair of any type as it’s a ‘delinquent’ style. I don’t understand why, can someone explain why we can’t do whatever the f we want with the hair growing out our OWN scalp???
