Hi there,
Myself and my partner (late 20s) are looking to take a trip to the Caribbean flying from the UK in late January for around 11 nights. We have chosen the Caribbean as we are able to use our avios points to get there and neither of us have been before, plus the weather seems to be fairly good at this time of year.
We aren’t big resort people but we do want to stay somewhere comfortable like a nice boutique/ eco hotel vibes where we can relax and be looked after without going all inclusive.
Our main priorities are:
– pretty beaches, I love anywhere with white sand and turquoise water where we can swim/ snorkel
– if scuba diving is an option this would be a plus but we probably wouldn’t plan our whole trip around this.
– somewhere with some local character, nice food & drinks, beach bars, local restaurants
– possibly some other activities like a day or 2 we could spend doing a hike, visiting waterfalls or somewhere inland (not essential)
Excluding flights, we have a rough budget of around £1500-2000 per person ($1100-1500 USD) for the whole trip.
So far from my search and limited by BA avios destinations that are available for our dates, I’ve narrowed it down to Grenada (+ a few days in Carriacou), Antigua & barbuda, St Lucia, Barbados, Dominican Republic & Tobago (would have to fly into Port of Spain and transfer across but could fly home from Tobago).
I’d be really grateful for any insights!
