I just ended up in a political parade in St. Lucia and it was freaking awesome!

So I’m visiting St. Lucia for the first time. Just finished a meal in the cute little town of Sousfriere. As I was pulling out of my street parking spot and hung a right. I ended up behind what I would best describe as a party bus. It was a flatbread with huge speakers on it absolutely blasting very Afro-Caribbean music. The folks on the truck all had big SLP red flags and matching shirts. I quickly realized it wasn’t just the one flatbed. It was a whole line of cars! That somehow I ended up in the middle of! At first I got a few strange looks. But then I put my window down and started dancing in my drivers seat and threw my hands up. That apparently was the right call as I got a few high fives and fist bumps from some folks on the street for the event!

I’m very American and very white by the way. So I def looked out of place. But per usual, island folks are chill as fuck and just love having a good time. Once they saw I was on board, I felt like I was an honorary islander. It was freaking awesome sauce.

So anyways, good luck to Emma Hippolyte in the election next week. You’ve got some big time supporters and fans, now including this fat white guy from Ohio 😂

P.S. – anyone local…she’s not like evil or someone I don’t want to support right? I literally have no idea!
