Only way out of from school violence – trinidad crime

The school assault prompted me rewrite my policy idea on SV into a more detailed one this morning.

Opinion please.

· Treating with School Violence – two main methods and center on GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION.

1. Reform education in WHOLE, including and not limited to –

a) Adoption of non stress Finland teaching methods: be it 5-30 minute homework, 3 teachers per class, INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION in the form of a teacher and counselor assigned to a struggling student, 5 year teacher training, end of standardized tests and more.

b) Adoption of Japanese and South Korean HI TECH CLASSROOM: tablet digital textbooks FREELY distributed to primary school students and older, digital whiteboards replacing chalk board, entire curriculum available on digital devices and online.

c) Adoption of Japanese and South Korean respective JET and EPIK language programs where foreign teachers hired to teach English and sport. In Trinidad’s case teachers imported to teach SPANISH, FRENCH and possibly CHINESE (imminent super power) to primary and secondary school students.

d) Asian and Finland teaching methods replaces the current British.

e) End of SEA standardized test.

f) Free university and trade school.

1. MENTAL HEALTH –

g) A dedicated mental health ministry set up, responsible for all matters pertaining to the subject.

h) Many and enough SCHOOL COUNCILLORS hired – services administered to offenders, victims and parents. Punishment alone cannot fix the issue. Police neither.

i) Program to import foreign mental health professionals to furnish the ministry and add to locally based ones.

j) School councilors no longer temporary but permanent hires.

k) Bullying severely tackled.
