Road to a hi tech state – trinidad affairs

Critical to diversify from oil/gas.

· Investment by foreign hi tech companies – will be expanded upon to provide knowhow and jobs to nationals. Utilizing business friendly inducements to bring to Trinidad.

· Opening local hi tech companies and industry – (some industry listed in the manifesto like MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, PHARMACEUTICALS and CLEAN ENERGY) as one pillar to facilitate a hi tech state, various ones raised here, both government or private under good incentives. As much industry types as possible.
Defined industry identified as hi tech are: aerospace, pharmaceuticals, computers and office machinery, communication equipment, and scientific (medical, precision, and optical) instruments.
Research and development are closely linked, FUNDED firstly by the state and secondarily other sources.

· Technology park – for business, research, and development. Defined is an area where companies have offices and laboratories and do work involving science and technology.

· Employment of locally born scientists, engineers and such – in furtherance of technological aptitude for the nation, government will employ them to local positions. Caveat merit plays a role so the most needed or demanding posts can go to hired foreigners. Like any in the Scientific Neighborhood Initiative program, are due similar benefits so long as the state is served. Any professional NOT working for the state, such as private sector, are due lesser benefits – generally Travel pass extension.

· Importation and Employment of foreign born scientists, engineers and such – a government program. These foreigners have the EDUCATION NEEDED TO BUILD A HI TECH STATE. Hi tech industry requires EDUCATED WORKERS with a degree. These supplement locals to rapidly industrialize Trinidad outside the oil sector, diversify the economy.
The SCIENTIFIC NEIGHBOURHOOD INITIATIVE with all its benefits is one incentive.
NOTE – as of 2022 in South Korea college graduates face higher unemployment than those WITHOUT degrees – government response was launching a program to get them a job abroad to escape poverty.

· Scientific Neighborhood Initiative – Trinidad likeminded as Yehud, Israel; to attract academics, scientists, engineers and professionals, locals AND foreigners alike, in new, highly invested neighborhoods, constructed at state expense and if accommodation unavailable settled outside the specific development. These residents long as they entrusted serving the state exclusively are entitled on top of the free bus and ferry pass, respectable salary, no utility bill, bonuses for outstanding work, free housing and other benefits. This ultimately raises Trinidad’s scientific base potential in different fields of the HI TECH SECTOR.
