Here is how to do a quick loop of the area:
- The Chocolatier: Walk inside the old convent. You don’t need a reservation to browse the shop or watch the chefs dicing and tempering chocolate through the glass windows.
- The Artist Cottages: These brightly coloured shacks are active studios. Pop your head in, the artists are usually happy to show you what they’re working on, and it’s a great way to see actual Bahamian-made work.
- Bahama Barrels: Winery located in a restored 1930s church. It’s open to the public, so you can stop in to see the architecture and the barrels even if you aren’t doing a tasting.
- Heritage Museum: Housed in Mountbatten House, this is one of the best-preserved sites in Nassau. Even if you skip the tour inside, the grounds are worth a walk-through for the history alone.
- The Wine Cellar: It’s a repurposed pirate dungeon. If the hotel restaurant isn’t in the middle of a lunch or dinner rush, you can usually ask the staff to let you take a quick look downstairs.
