trinidad crime – prison reform in doable steps

short notice –

* initiate anti corruption in the prison service.

* urgently invite Norway’s and Germany’s prison officers to instill methods to our current ones.

* establish a new prison COLLEGE run by the foreigners.

* employ psychologists to interview all new prisoners, develop individualized plans based on result.

* proceed with a public education program on the service.

* none with military background may apply for prisons, they lack a social mindset. Remove such cadets.

* at once free all minor offender and non violent inmates. Thins numbers of incarcerated.

* cease arrests for weed and drug possession.

long term –

* cadets from now must undertake a TWO YEAR course. Training to deescalate conflicts, psychology is part of the course. Will interact like councilors with inmates. 6 months cannot do.

* build humane Norway like prisons. Built around rehab.

* post release support given to inmates based on a social safety net.

* a youth training center on a similar model.

* youth and inmates are entitled to education from facilities on site.

* cease the death penalty.

* have Norway’s and Germany’s prison officers run the cadet college with full state support.
