trinidad crime – why gangs unchecked

Had about two speakers on – the first i suspect is a cop (only overheard from a room). He spoke in terms of toughness.
The next a woman – was softer and spoke to the effect of nurturing men.

Bare minimum one would fail if crime czar.

Neither spoke of 1. living wage to end poverty, 2. intervention for the family, 3. mental health.

All are crime causes. First 2 are part of BASIC NEEDS.

Crickets too –

1. small business encouraged by state support,

2. soft and hard dope DECRIMINALIZATION,

3. free trade and university,

4. subsidized homes,

5. low cost of living to ease poverty,

6. descalation, longer training, rooting out criminals – in the police.

Gangs have cut a swathe through the nation. Safest states approach socially not by stick.
